Madison Baldwin - 3rd Runner-Up
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
Nerida: Greek for mermaid. I've always been fascinated with these mystical beauties. I have found some special talents I possess that only my fellow sea creatures understand. Ask me when we meet. We can learn a lot from mermaids: Don't apologize for being unique. Shamelessly pursue what fills you with happiness. Don't be afraid to brave deep waters to follow your dreams.
You can’t control the tides of life but you can ride them.
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Mondays are my favorite day. It's the day I serve as a panel member for 5 county youth court which I feel was planned on Monday's for a reason. It's a new week with new opportunities. The day I help youth make new decisions that will change the course of their lives forever. I get to see the magic of new beginnings every Monday. I believe in Monday as much as I believe on Sunday.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
Lilo and Stitch A story about finding the good inside us all. LILO-Struggling to find where she belongs has endless faith in how the world could be and is bursting with the capability to love. Stitch, A creature created for destruction sees LILO and he sees light. He feels unlovable but Lilo shows him his value. This taught me how powerful believing in someone can be. This knowledge combined with my platform is changing lives.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
My passion for rollerblading started as a baby. My Mom would rollerblade while pushing me in my stroller along the canyon trail. I was so excited when I was able to strap my own pair on and we've been going almost daily ever since.
I love rollerblading because it keeps me physically and emotionally healthy. Now I'm helping others through the Charity Miles app. Every mile I rollerblade, $.04 is donated to my favorite charity.
